Overview
Responsible For
- Assist clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Support mobility and transfers using hoists or other equipment.
- Administer medication under supervision.
- Maintain accurate records and report changes in client conditions
Specific Skills
Technical Skills:
- Personal Care: Hands-on experience assisting with hygiene and mobility.
- Health Monitoring: Observing and reporting on client well-being.
- Safety Procedures: Knowledge of manual handling and infection control.
- Meal Preparation: Preparing and assisting with feeding as required.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate care logs and reports.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication with clients and families.
- Empathy: Providing compassionate care and emotional support.
- Team Collaboration: Working effectively with healthcare teams.
- Conflict Resolution: Managing and resolving concerns with patience.
Educational Requirements
Certifications (Required/Preferred):
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Aged Care/Disability)
- First Aid & CPR Certification
- Manual Handling Training
Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred):
- Nursing
- Aged Care
- Disability Support
- Social Work
